Fire Killed 5 Individuals in an Illegal Firecracker Factory in Laguna
Five (5) individuals were killed after a fire broke out in an illegal factory of firecracker in Calamba, Laguna.
In a fire that was allegedly started by an illegal fireworks factory in the region, five people were killed and two were injured, according to a report from the Calamba City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO). Around 10 am, according to CDRRMO chief Noriel Habaña, a fire started in a home in a neighborhood.
The residents of the burned-out home reportedly heard an explosion, which then spread to four other homes. Then it was found that the house served as a factory for producing firecrackers.
“Initially, ang report may sumabog at ito nga po napag-alaman na may mga ginagawang paputok. ‘Di pa po namin masabi kung gaano kalaki ang impact dahil ongoing pa ang investigation,” Habaña said in an interview with DZBB.
Additionally, it was discovered that all of the victims were from Albay and were not city residents. Who owns the house and runs the factory is still under investigation by the authorities.
By midday, the sequence had been deemed under control. The factory, according to Calamba City Roseller Rizal, was purportedly concealed in the courtyard of the homes, and only the neighbors were aware of it.
The casualties were all from Albay, and the report states that the fireworks business began operating in the area in May. On the other hand, the mayor pledged to bring individuals responsible for the fireworks manufacturing to justice.
