Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto shared a photo on Twitter showing people on the streets and they were holding placards, and he thought this was a sort of rally.

Mayor Vico is one of the most popular local officials. His popularity extends to other cities and provinces and not just in his city. Aside from being the son of famous showbiz veterans Coney Reyes and Vic Sotto, the Mayor’s popularity is also because of his good record.

Amid the pandemic, his name became more popular. Many people from different cities would comment on his post that they wish they have the same local leaders as him. With his good track record, it is just natural for him to be receiving praise and expression of gratitude.

In one of his recent Twitter posts, Mayor Vico Sotto shared a photo with a group of people. In the caption of his post, he said that he thought those people were doing “welga.”

“Mula sa malayo akala ko may nagwewelga… nagpapasalamat lang pala [smiling face with open mouth and cold sweat emoji],” the local chief executive said. It is because those people have placards. However, what was written on those placards were not complaints or demands to oust him.

It turned out that was how those people showed appreciation for the Mayor for everything that he has done as a leader. That was a sort of expressing gratitude to the public servant.

“Thank you for the warm welcome,” he said. The Pasig City Mayor was joined by Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski.

In the comment section of his post, several netizens commended the Mayor also. “This is what good governance looks like. You get genuine thanks from the people you genuinely serve. More power to you,” a netizen commented.
