Boying Remulla Slams ABS-CBN Over Reports for His Son’s Drug Case
Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla slammed ABS-CBN for their reports against his son’s drug case.
The Justice Secretary has criticized ABS-CBN for its alleged biased reporting of his son Juanito Jose Remulla III’s illegal drug case. According to him, he believes their reporting is biased against his son because he played a part in rejecting the Lopez-owned network’s franchise bid.
Remulla recently accused ABS-CBN of hurting him through the many news reports it airs on the drug issue his son is facing in an interview with broadcaster Anthony Taberna. Juanito Jose is accused of possessing kush, or high-grade marijuana, and is now facing narcotics charges.
After receiving a package containing approximately 1 kilogram of kush with a street value of 1.3 million pesos at a residence in BF Resort Village, he was detained by the PDEA and Ninoy Aquino International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, which also includes the units of the Bureau of Customs, the police, and other pertinent agencies.
“ABS-CBN has been very ano… Sila talaga ang tumitira sa akin. Napakabigat po. Kasi nga siguro yung participation ko sa Congress noong ako’y congressman at nawala ang kanilang franchise, major part ‘yan,” Remulla said.
“Every 20 minutes meron silang news flash tungkol sa… Parang ito na lang po ang nangyayari sa Pilipinas. May news flash sila, idinidiin nila masyado,” he added.
Remulla, the Senior Deputy Majority Leader in the House of Representatives, was one of the representatives that emphasized the alleged transgressions by ABS-CBN during the hearings on its 2020 franchise application. Remulla claimed that while he is unconcerned by ABS-CBN’s actions he is certain that the network’s reporting on his son’s legal issue is “personal.”
“Hindi naman ako napipikon kasi kabisado ko naman ‘yan,” he said.
