Richard Yap Files Cyber Libel Case vs. Cebu Councilor For 'Abandoned Son' Post

Richard Yap is taking legal action regarding this issue

Kapuso actor Richard Yap filed a cyber libel complaint against Cebu City councilor Niña Mabatid for posting about his alleged abandoned son.

Back in 2021, a certain Joshua Paolo Jensen claimed that he is an illegitimate son of Richard. However, the actor denied Joshua’s claim. Richard said that he has been in the entertainment industry for a decade now and it is just recently when this certain person claimed to be his son.

“He doesn’t know how to speak Bisaya. Why is he filing in Cebu? Who is behind that?” the actor said last year. Richard Yap that this issue is politically motivated.

Niña Mabatid shared a post on Facebook showing the paternal suit filed by Joshua Jensen. In the caption of her post, the councilor wrote, “Abandoned child by Actor Richard Yap filed a case against YAP for a paternal suit. As an advocate of the protection and welfare of children, I pray for DNA TESTING kay maluoy ko sa bata. pero di man cya pa test but once the court orders wala cya’y mahimo?”

Mabatid believes that Joshua is indeed the son of Richard. She also wished Joshua good luck in his fight to be acknowledged as the son of the Kapuso actor.

In Richard’s Facebook post, he showed that he also took legal action when it comes to this issue, based on the article in The Philippine Star. The actor shared the warrant of arrest against Mabatid.

“Thank you Lord that the wheels of Justice are finally moving. Even though she tried to influence the Fiscals by calling them during the investigation which was illegal. The fiscals were honest and fair and upright and could not be swayed by her threats and use her of her influence,” Richard wrote in the caption of his post.
