The suspect, identified in the article as Police Maj. Ruben Marilag, is a member of the aforementioned province’s Balayan Municipal Police Office. At the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) headquarters in Camp Crame, the suspect is now being held, based on the report.

According to Brig. Gen. Warren de Leon, the head of IMEG, the police detained Marilag as part of an entrapment operation in front of a bank that is also close to their station. The operation resulted from an allegation that he had committed by harassing and pressuring the complainant/victim into paying a weekly payola for the victim’s “loteng” business.

In light of this, the aforementioned “loteng” operation had already been discontinued after the victim was identified as having stage 3 colon cancer in March 2021. Nevertheless, the suspect is adamant that the victim must pay his weekly payola of 2,000, according to de Leon.

The marked cash, Marilag’s service gun with 14 bullets, a cellphone, a wallet containing cash, and an identification (ID) card of the PNP were all found by the police. Marilag is already dealing with an administrative complaint and an extortion case.
