Driver Killed, P500k Cash Stolen after Armed Group Robbed Delivery Van in Iloilo
1 killed and 2 injured after an armed group ambushed and robbed a delivery van in Barangay Pasig, Lambunao, Iloilo.
In a brazen daylight heist in Barangay Pasig, Lambunao town, Iloilo province, three suspects hauled away more than 500,000 pesos, according to the police report. Chief of Lambunao Police Station Police Major Jogen Suegay said the culprits, who are still at large, stole P591,000 in cash from a delivery van.
A driver was killed and two salespeople were injured in the incident, which happened at about 3:45 p.m. Jerry Paldas, 45, of Passi City, was the person who passed away. He was shot in the chest and head, dying as a result.
Suegay claims that the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Daily Guardian’s report, the injured included Elbert Mardoquio, 37, of Cabatuan, and Jeriel Nalangan, 35, of Calinog.
One of the suspects opened fire on the delivery van returning to Iloilo City with cigarettes inside. Mardoquio and Nalangan were able to exit the delivery van and flee from the suspects who had their faces partially concealed. They both had bullet wounds to their shoulders.
Authorities recovered at the crime scene at least two empty shells from a 12-gauge shotgun. Investigations are still being conducted in order to identify and apprehend the suspects.
