If there’s one movie that he will never forget, Ian Veneracion said that it would be this horror film
Seasoned actor Ian Veneracion revealed the reason why the movie Hiwaga sa Balete Drive is so memorable for him.
The said movie was released in 1988. When Ian became part of this horror film, he was just 13 years old. The actor started his career in showbiz at a young age. At the age of 6 or 7, he played the son of Joey de Leon‘s character in the sitcom Joey and Son.
In a recent interview to celebrate his 40th anniversary in the industry, Ian looked back at his journey as an actor. He admitted that as a young kid, he thought that acting was just “pa-cute” but this concept that he had was changed when he did the horror film under Seiko Films.
It is because he saw how his co-actors were very serious about their craft. “‘Yung eksena imadyinin mo, mga 13 ako noon, tapos ang tatay ko Joel Torre, nanay ko Gina Alajar, ang tiyahin ko si Charito Solis, tapos ang direktor ko si direk Peque Gallaga,” Ian Veneracion related.
The actor added that he witnessed how acting was being taken seriously. He also saw the processes of his co-actors when it comes to portraying their characters. “Doon talaga kumbaga nag-shift ‘yung paningin ko na akala ko ‘yun ang trabaho ng artista dati, hindi pala ganoon,” he said.
Ian also said that it was the moment he changed his perspective and because of this, the movie became memorable to him. Being in the industry for four decades now, the actor said that he does not want to take the credit for the projects he has done over the years.
For him, he is what he is now because of the people he met along the way. He also said that if he is doing well, then, the credit should to those who have touched him and his heart.
