DOH Confirms Possibility of Putting Metro Manila under Alert Level 2

DOH Speaks on Measure in Metro Manila

DOH – The Department of Health confirmed the possibility of placing Metro Manila under Alert Level 2 if the COVID cases continue to increase.

The fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is not over as long as there are cases anywhere in the country as to the World Health Organization (WHO). The international health body gave countries reminders not to be complacent amid the decrease in the cases in some areas. Several nations eased their restrictions against the pandemic.

In the Philippines, the whole country remains under restrictions with most of the places being under Alert Level 1, the loosest quarantine measure. Metro Manila is one of those that are under the Alert Level 1 for several weeks now.

Some of the schools are already preparing for the resumption of face-to-face classes. Graduation rites in some schools will also be held in a face-to-face mode.

However, there is an increase in the COVID cases in some areas including Metro Manila. Recently, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed the possibility of placing the capital region under Alert Level 2 if the hospitalization rate reaches moderate risk. Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stressed that there is a need to prevent the healthcare system from getting overwhelmed.

According to the report, DOH continues to remind the public to keep on cooperating in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic to prevent stricter community quarantine measures. Malacañang previously reiterated the mandatory face mask rule outdoors. The health department also encourages the public to get vaccinated and to take their booster shots for those who are eligible to be boosted.

Malacañang announces the community quarantine measures in different areas in the country every two weeks unless there is a need for a sudden shift in the measure to fight the spread of COVID-19.
