Gasoline from Malaysia Sold in Tawi-Tawi at P65 per Liter

Municipality in Tawi-Tawi Enjoys Cheaper Gasoline Cost amid High Fuel Prices in PH

GASOLINE – Amid the high prices of fuel in the Philippines, the gas from Malaysia sells at P65.00 per liter only in Tawi-Tawi.

Many Filipinos are currently struggling due to the high oil prices in the country. It was in January 2022 when the prices of oil started going on an upward trend. There were some instances of rollbacks but the price decrease undeniably takes only a very small cut of the price hikes.

Amid the high prices of oil, public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers appeal for help. According to many of them, they have huge debts already as they can hardly bring home an amount that could provide for their families’ needs due to high fuel costs.

Private individuals who own vehicles are also greatly affected by the high costs of fuel. There are calls for the suspension of the fuel excise tax but Malacañang denied it explaining that the budget is already allotted for government projects.

Currently, several transport groups are calling for an increase in the minimum jeepney fare due to the high prices of fuel. The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has contributed to the global oil problem.

The oil price hikes have led the prices of gasoline and diesel to hit over P90 per liter. Amid the high fuel prices in the Philippines, the municipality of Bongao in Tawi-Tawi enjoys cheaper gasoline costs.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the gasoline supply in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi is from Malaysia. It is sold in the municipality at P65 per liter. Reportedly, most of the fuel supply in the municipality came from Sabah.

Amid the high prices of fuel across the nation, more and more people are using electronic bikes and motorcycles to be able to save money from fuel. The provincial bus transport group is also planning to call for an increase in the minimum fare for buses. More updates may be posted soon.
