P31 Hike in Daily Minimum Wage For Workers in Central Visayas to Take Effect on June 14, RTWPB-7 Says

RTWPB-7 announced that the P31 hike in the daily minimum wage for Central Visayas workers will take effect on June 14, 2022.

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in the region (RTWPB-7) announced that the minimum wage hike will start 12 days after receiving approval from the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC).

The Central Visayas office of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-7) has also shared the announcement on their Facebook page.  DOLE-7 information officer Luchel Taniza said that the new wage orders has been submitted to NWPC for approval last May 25, 2022.

Wage Order No. ROVII-D.W.03 authorized the pay hike for private-sector workers in Central Visayas. Both workers from agriculture and non-agriculture will receive an increase of P31.

DOLE-7 said that non-agriculture workers in the Class A cities and municipalities will receive a minimum wage of P435 while laborers in Class B cities and municipalities will receive a P397 daily minimum wage.

The minimum wage earners in Class C municipalities shall receive P387 under the new wage rates.

Household workers or “kasambahays” are also entitled to receive an additional P500 increase. The new bill also covers both house helpers working under a live-in or live-out arrangement.

Here is the list of considered household workers:

•          Yaya

•          Cook

•          Gardener

•          Laundry person

•          Any person performing domestic work on daily basis
