Several Gov’t Vehicles Received Violation Ticket from MMDA During Clearing Ops
MMDA has issued violation tickets to several government vehicles during a road clearing operation in Quezon City.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority is an agency of the Republic of the Philippines implementing the planning, monitoring and coordinative functions along the road concerning purely local matters.
The agency covers the cities of Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan, Pasay, Mandaluyong, Makati, Pasig, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Parañaque, Valenzuela, Malabon, Taguig, Navotas and San Juan and the municipality of Pateros.
Around 6:00 am on Friday (May 27, 2022), MMDA conducts a road clearing operation at a part of Agham Road in Quezon City. The agency’s employees have removed and towed the illegally parked vehicles.
The agency towed the vehicles along the sidewalk, which is extremely dangerous for pedestrians. Some owners of towed vehicles have expressed their disappointment with the clearing operation.
MMDA chief Edison “Bong” Nebrija even tried to tow NIA’s bus in front of the National Irrigation Administration. However, the traffic czar just issued a violation ticket to NIA’s office after learning that the bus is defective.
Along NIA North, the traffic officers impounded the taxis and motorcycles illegally parked in front of the National Printing Office and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. Nebrija explained that the road clearing operation aims to ensure the safety of both pedestrians and motorists along the road.
“Sa amin lang naman ginagawa lang naming ang trabaho na to and besides kino complain na yung area na to, nagtataka nga kami at nagpapaimplement ng batas,” Nebrija said.
Unfortunately, the residents and vehicles returned to the sidewalk after MMDA completed the clearing operation around 9:00 am.
