Bike Race Contestant Accidentally Hits 76-Year-Old Grandma, Which Leads to Her Untimely Death
A 76-year-old grandma in Alcala, Pangasinan has passed away after she has been hit by a bike race contestant.
A female senior citizen identified as Erlinda Galleno of Barangay Pindangan East in Alcala, Pangasinan died after she was hit by a cyclist joining a bike race. The elderly woman suffered a serious wound on her head.
Lola Erlinda has been rushed to the nearest hospital but passed away because of her injury. The grandma just bought snacks from a store and was supposed to return to her house when the incident happened.
The victim’s son named Randeur has expressed her grief and pain due to the untimely death of his mother.
“Ang nanay namin ay alam naman natin na may edad na siya, but then the way she died isn’t natural way. Okey lang sana kung natural way but it’s very tragic. So ayun talagang nakakalungkot na nangyari,” Randeur said.
Alcala Police station chief Police Major Virgilio Cruz said that the cyclist did not notice the elderly woman. Cruz blamed the organizer for failing to coordinate with the barangay before the race event.
“Yung isang organizer doon ang problema walang coordination sa barangay. Bale mga 30 plus na participants ito. Walang coordination kaya yung barangay hindi sila [nakapagtalaga] ng tanod din sa amin,” Cruz said.
The victim’s relative said that the cyclist and the bike race organizer provide financial help. The two camps have already settled the issue.
