Directors Guild of the Philippines Reminds Voters: “Piliin ang liwanag”

Directors Guild of the Philippines joined reminded Filipino to vote wisely

Directors Guild of the Philippines Inc. created an election advocacy video to remind the voting population to choose the “light” in the coming May 9 elections.

In an almost three-minute video, several prominent directors in the country lent their voices to this advocacy. Multi-awarded director Lav Diaz started narrating in a video calling out to all Filipinos to show their heroism, courage, and strength in order to restore the right consciousness, truth, justice, and hope.

This was followed by different directors who established their names in the filmmaking industry in the Philippines such as Joel Lamangan, Jun Lana, Erick Matti, Antoinette Jadaone, Irene Villamor, Jose Javier Reyes, Carlos Siguion-Reyna, and National Artist For Cinema Kidlat Liwanag, and many more.

Throughout the video, the directors encouraged the Filipinos to vote for the candidate who values every Filipino whoever they are and whatever background they came from.

They also pointed out the president they want is someone who does not abuse power, and has dreams and plans for the nation. “Ang boto namin ay walang kulay, walang partido. Ang boto naming ay para sa atin – tayong mga Pilipino. Pilipinas ang aming pangulo, inang bayan ang aming iboboto,” the Directors Guild of the Philippines stated in the campaign ad.

The group also stressed the next president that they want the Philippines would have. “Kami ay ang mga direktor ng pelikulang Pilipino at ang pipiliin naming pangulo ay ang magiging direktor ng kasaysayhan ng ating bayan, may pag-asa, may pagkakataon, may liwanag,” the group stated.

At the end of the video, DGPI highlighted a reminder for the coming elections: “Piliin ang liwanag sa darating na eleksyon.”

As of this writing, the election advocacy already has more than 34 thousand views and over 3 thousand reactions.
