UST Declares Work and Class Suspension on May 9-10, 2022

WALANG PASOK – The University of Santo Tomas (UST) has declared work and class suspension on May 9-10, 2022.

Previously, the Department of Education (DepEd) has announced the suspension of classes in public schools to give way for the 2022 national elections. The class cancellation covers grade levels from kindergarten to Grade 12.

The Commission on Elections reported that there is a total of 65.8 million registered voters nationwide who will vote for the upcoming elections.

On Wednesday (May 4, 2022), the Facebook page “University of Santo Tomas” declared the suspension of works and classes from May 9 to 10, 2022 to allow from May 9 to 10, 2022 to practice their right to vote for May 2022 elections.

UST said that classes in all levels will be suspended during those dates. The university aims to allow its eligible members to exercise their right to vote. The school is also praying for a clean and peaceful poll.

To allow the eligible members of the Thomasian community to exercise their right of suffrage this coming week, classes at all levels and office work at the University of Santo Tomas will be suspended on May 9 and May 10, 2022 (Monday and Tuesday).

Considering the sacredness of our votes and our participation in the electoral process, let us dutifully and wisely exercise our right to vote for the sake of the common good of the Filipino nation. Likewise, we pray for clean, orderly, credible, and peaceful elections.
