JOPET SISON’S PLATFORMS – Here are the accomplishments of Jopet Sison and the things he promises to do if he gets elected as Senator in the May 2022 Elections.

The Aksyon Demokratiko senatorial candidate is the son of Atty. Jose Sison, his co-host in the TV program Ipaglaban Mo. He has been a trustee and consultant of Ipaglaban Mo Foundation and Sison Law. Jopet Sison renders free legal advice to viewers, letter senders, and walk-in clients.

PERSONAL BACKGROUND

 Jopet Sison studied Bachelor of Science in Legal Management, at the Ateneo de Manila University. Then, he took up a Bachelor of Laws at Manuel L. Quezon University. He is married to Cef Macalino-Sison who is also a lawyer and they have three children.

He was the Assistant General Manager of the National Housing Authority (NHA) from 2001 to 2005. Sison also served as councilor of the Fourth District of Quezon City from 1992 to 1998.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

While serving as a Quezon City councilor, reportedly, Jopet Sison was able to pass 270 ordinances and resolutions. He also got the recognition as best attendance in the QC Council. From 2013 up to now, he is the President of FIRMAMENT Development Corporation.

Sison led the launch of Bahay Bonds I. This is the government’s program that is the first residential mortgage-backed security to be issued by a Philippine government agency and sold to institutional investors.

  • Pass the freedom of information bill
  • Require line-item budgeting, cure the pork barrel problem
  • Create standards and a checklist for the grant of legislative franchises
  • Pass a “one government bill” providing for one accountable officer per department to streamline processes and remove unnecessary requirements
  • Pass a “government proprietary law” to punish officials and public servants
  • Pass a law that will require all sectors, businesses, and government to uniformly present dates in the following order: date, month, year
  • Shift to a federalized and unicameral form of government
  • Implement full autonomy and devolution to local government units, by supporting through subsidies, automation of services and promotion of cashless transactions
  • Pass the public utility employees act, to protect drivers from the pressures and effects of the boundary system
  • Improve congressional oversight and monitoring of the transportation department
  • Professionalize the Land Transportation Office and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board
  • Replicate the housing program of Singapore already introduced in Manila City
  • Amend the Urban Development Housing Act and update the areas for priority development
  • Increase the scope of the Build Build Build program
  • Allocate more funds for housing
  • Implement a unified ID system, to identify targeted and qualified beneficiaries of public services and subsidiaries
