Daryl Ong Feelings Over Loss Of Followers After Supporting Uniteam

After declaring support for Uniteam, Daryl Ong loses a huge number of followers.

The presence of celebrities in the grand rallies of politicians along with their endorsements make a great impact. It is undeniable that media celebrities are highly regarded in their societies. Their status makes them function as effective promoters of certain issues, products, and causes as well as persons, and in the case of politics, the politicians.

Celebrities with good reputations are perceived as believable, trustworthy, likable, and persuasive and during this year’s election in the Philippines, celebrities were clustered together based on the politicians they are giving their support to. And in times like this, it can’t be helped if a certain celebrity would lose a fraction of his or her supporters – the supporters who do not share the same values and opinions as them.

And this is exactly what happened to Daryl Ong, a famous singer. Just recently, he publicly declared his support for the Uniteam which resulted in a loss of followers on his social media account. He declared his support to the Uniteam tandem by gracing their Sinulog-inspired grand rally at the Queen City of the South, Cebu, last April 18.

He lost a portion of his followers on his social media page but despite the loss, he never felt bad. Instead, he thanked them, those who unfollowed him, because they have been a part of his journey. He said, “Sa mga nag u-unfollow dahil sa pag post ko ng aking suporta sa Uniteam. Salamat parin po sa inyong lahat, naging part parin po kayo ng journey ko. No matter what, nirerespeto ko po kayo.”

And to those who remained supporting him despite having different preferences for president, he also thanked them. For those who shared the same political stand like him, this is his message for them:

“Sa mga katulad ko ng pinaniniwalaan at kapwa sumusuporta sa Uniteam, ako’y lubusang nagpapasalamat sa ating pagkakaisa. All the best sa ating lahat, sa ating bansa. God bless the Philippines.”
