Libel Case filed by Manny Pacquiao vs Pastor Apollo Quiboloy Dismissed
Court has dismissed the libel case filed by boxer-turned-politician Manny Pacquiao against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
Senator Manny Pacquiao’s online libel case against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy was rejected by the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office. Nonetheless, Atty. Pacquiao’s legal counsel, Nikki De Vega, disagrees with the judgment.
“While we respect the decision of the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office, we respectfully disagree. A distinction must be made between mere criticism and the proliferation of fake news,” De Vega said in a statement.
“Interestingly, the case was dismissed even without a Counter-Affidavit from Apollo Quiboloy,” he added.

They have already filed a request for reconsideration, according to De Vega. They are considering abandoning the lawsuit in order to facilitate Quiboloy’s extradition and arrest in the s*x trafficking case in the United States.
“However, we are also considering withdrawing our motion so that the US government, through the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), can properly facilitate the extradition and arrest of Apollo Quiboloy in relation to his sex trafficking case in the US,” he said. De Vega.
Senator Manny believes that bringing justice to the victims of horrible acts is more essential. She went on to say that there are a lot of people who need to be held accountable for their deaths. Quiboloy stated in a statement Monday that the dismissal of the charge against him indicates “truth and justice have triumphed.”
“I am happy to announce the dismissal of the cyber libel case filed by Senator Manny Pacquiao against me. The resolution of the City Prosecution Office of Makati dismissing the case was dated December 22, 2021, and received by my authorized representative last January 21, 2022. Indeed, truth and justice have prevailed,” Quiboloy said.
Pacquiao filed a P100 million cyberlibel lawsuit against Quiboloy in September 2021. This is in connection with Quiboloy’s claims on television and in social media that Pacquiao exploited public cash to build the unfinished Sarangani Sports Training Center.
