Derek Ramsay is not yet ready to do any project
Actor Derek Ramsay revealed the status of his contract with GMA-7 after three years since he transferred to the Kapuso network.
It was on April 3, 2019, when Derek signed an exclusive contract with the Kapuso network after years of working with ABS-CBN. The first project that he had with GMA was the series The Better Woman with his ex-girlfriend Andrea Torres.
However, after that, he did not make any show anymore. Based on the article in PEP, during a recent radio interview, Derek was asked about his contract with GMA now. He revealed, “Freeze, suspended, it’s more like it.”
It is because he is not ready yet to be in a lock-in taping. Derek Ramsay also said that it was his and GMA’s choice to freeze the contract for now. The hunk actor was supposed to be the lead actor in the recently ended series To Have And To Hold with Max Collins and Carla Abellana. He was replaced by Rocco Nacino.
Derek said that he had to back out because his priority right now is his family. He is also worried about the COVID situation in the country especially since his parents are living with him.
“So, naintindihan naman ng GMA yun, they respected my decision. So, nag-decide kami na i-suspend muna yung kontrata na ready na ako magtrabaho when I feel na it’s safe na to work,” he said.
GMA’s Senior VP-Entertainment Group Ms. Lilybeth G. Rasonable confirmed the statement of Derek Ramsay. She said that it was a mutual decision between the actor and the management of the Kapuso network. The GMA executive also said that if Derek is ready to work again, he will be lined up for a drama project.
For Derek, it is still uncertain when he will be his TV comeback but there is a project that he wants to happen this year and it is an international film.
