Susan Roces shared her reaction to the recently approved FPJ Avenue
Veteran actress Susan Roces hopes that the recently approved FPJ Avenue will be an inspiration to many Filipinos.
Fernando Poe, Jr., known also as FPJ and The King in the entertainment industry in the Philippines, was one of the pillars of movie making. Throughout his career, he has done many iconic films that are still being remembered until now.
His name will always be engraved in the corners of showbiz and his contribution to the industry will never be forgotten.
Another honor was attached to his name when President Rodrigo Duterte recently signed Republic Act No. 11608 renaming Roosevelt Avenue in Quezon City to Fernando Poe Jr. Avenue, based on the article in Manila Bulletin.
This came after the initiative of the Senate and the House of Representatives. Lawmakers described FPJ as a cultural icon and champion of the masses. The action star spent most of his childhood in their house in Roosevelt Avenue.
In line with this, Susan Roces, the wife of FPJ, expressed gratitude. “Maraming salamat sa inyong pagkilala at pagpapahalaga sa aking kabiyak sa pagpapangalan sa kanya ng FPJ Avenue,” the veteran actress said.
She also hopes that this will be an inspiration of humility and compassion. “Maging inspirasyon sana ang kababaang-loob, malasakit sa kapwa, at pagmamahal sa sining ni FPJ sa bawat daraan sa abenidang ito,” Susan said.
The FPJ Avenue is a 2.9-kilometer road that runs between Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) to the north and Quezon Avenue to the south.
Meanwhile, the legacy of FPJ continues in the entertainment industry. One of his famous projects Ang Probinsyano was adapted into a series and it has been airing for more than six years now. Susan Roces also became part of the action-drama series and she played the character of Cardo Dalisay’s (Coco Martin) grandmother.
