Candidate Dead After Winning As Supporters Celebrate His Victory With Gunfire
CANDIDATE DEAD AFTER WINNING – In politics, one can never celebrate too early as anything can happen.
A young man who had just won his village council election was dead after supporters celebrated with gunshots. According to reports, authorities identified the man as Mohammad Zakriya Khan.
Khan won the election on a General Councilor seat in his local village. Several others from the same constituency also secured wins. And, each council has six to seven members.
However, one political tradition became the death of the young Khan. As per tradition, supporters of those who won the elections celebrate by shooting guns into the air.

Unfortunately, one of the stray bullets hit the candidate. In an instant, the stray bullet killed Khan.
Based on an article from Samma TV News, police were present near the scene. But, no action was taken following the incident. Quickly enough, the gunfire turned the celebration into lamentation.
Across the globe, several countries deem celebratory gunfire as culturally acceptable. Among the countries that do are the following:
- Balkans
- Russia
- Middle East
- Afghanistan
- Pakistan
- India
- Guatemala
- Ethiopia
Suprisingly, the United States also accept this tradition. Furthermore, a large percentage of the population support gun ownership. Still, many lawmakers in the United States are pushing for sanctions and further restrictions on public gun use.
Obviously, shooting guns into the air have deadly consequences. According to ballistics expert David Dyson, “these bullets go a long way up when they’re fired“.
In the Philippines, police across the country report deaths due to stray bullets fired on New Year’s Eve. Even policemen themselves fire these bullets. Because of this, authorities banned firing guns into the air.
