4 Taguig City Cops Arrested Over Robbery from Japanese National

Authorities arrested four Taguig City cops as they were one of the suspects involved in the robbery against a Japanese national.

4 Taguig City police officers have been thrown in solitary confinement for their suspected involvement in the robbery of a Japanese man and his Filipina partner in Pasig City. Jayson Bartolome, Merick Desoloc, Christian Jerome Reyes, and Pat Kirk Joshua Almojera were named as suspects.

AJ Mary Agnas, who is allegedly working for the victims, was also arrested. Last Friday night, another suspect, Jhon Carlo Atienza, was discovered dead near the intersection of Kalayaan Avenue and Tolentino Street in Barangay Pinagkaisahan, Makati City.

According to the barangay’s CCTV footage, Atienza’s body lay motionless on the motorcycle. A rifle and the money in the sack also fell from the truck. From Kalayaan to EDSA, the motorist drove straight.

Two more suspects have still to be discovered. The suspects entered the partner’s house in Barangay Kapitolyo and pointed a gun at them, according to the NCRPO investigation.

The foreigner was allegedly compelled to open the vault with only PHP30 million in cash by the accused. The victim’s phone, which was worth a lot of money, was also taken. The victims filed a complaint in Barangay Kapitolyo right away.

Authorities acted promptly and pursued the fleeing suspects on a motorcycle all the way to Sta. Monica is a resident of Brgy. Capitol. According to the Pasig Police report, the suspects in the barangay battled with responding officers, injuring Bartolome and killing Atienza.

The thieves also attempted to throw away some of the money they allegedly stole while fleeing. Two of the suspects got off their motorcycle, scaled the West Capitol Drive fence, and sped away on a motorcycle towards BGC or Makati.

The commander of Taguig City Sub-Station 1 has been placed on administrative relief to avoid influencing the ongoing inquiry into the incident. Reyes and Agnas were stabbed in the follow-up operation, while Desoloc and Almojera surrendered to Taguig CPS.
