Which Country Will Unlikely Experience A Volcanic Eruption

Answer To The Question “Which Country Will Unlikely Experience A Volcanic Eruption?”

VOLCANIC ERUPTION – In this article, we are going to take a look at the country that’s unlikely to experience a volcanic eruption.

In the new science module, Science 10 Unit 1, activity 2 has the title: “Let’s Mark the Boundaries”. Here, we can see that there is a map that’s presented that shows where the active volcanoes in the Pacific Ring of Fire are.

Which Country Will Unlikely Experience A Volcanic Eruption

WHAT IS THE PACIFIC RING OF FIRE?

The Pacific Ring of Fire is an area around the pacific ocean where several active volcanoes sit. Among these areas include the Philippines, Japan, and other countries.

As such we can say that countries that are outside the Pacific Ring of Fire are unlikely to experience a volcanic eruption. These countries include the following:

  • Africa
  • Europe
  • Greenland
  • Russia
  • Australia
  • Eastern part of North and South America
  • Western Asia

However, we need to understand that Volcanoes are somehow not randomly distributed. Instead, only some areas have volcanoes that are connected to the movement of tectonic plates.

HOW ARE VOLCANOES FORMED?

Volcanoes are usually along convergent boundaries where two plates collide. The denser plate will go under the other one and push it toward the Earth’s mantle.

When this occurs, the other plate melts into magma and slowly rises to the surface, thus, creating volcanoes. Meanwhile, some volcanoes are made through divergent boundaries. And, others are created through hot spots like volcanoes found in the islands of Hawaii.
