Aiko Melendez is part of the MMFF 2021 entry ‘Huwag Kang Lalabas’
Seasoned actress Aiko Melendez shared her experience working with young actor Joaquin Domagoso, the son of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
Aiko has received awards for various roles that he did in movies. This year, she is part of the horror trilogy for the episode Bahay directed by Adolg Alix, Jr. In the movie, she plays the role of Joaquin’s character.
In an interview by Bandera entertainment columnist Reggee Bonoan, Aiko Melendez was asked how it was like working with the presidential aspirant. The seasoned actress praised the young actor for being “mabait”.
She also added that the shooting was great because they were all happy on the set despite the fact that the movie that they were shooting was horror. “Okay ang shooting namin, kasi masayang kasama si Joaquin. Para akong naging young at heart again. Kasi, tinuruan niya akong mag-TikTok on the set, tapos we did a vlog together. So, ang saya, parang ang light lang,” Aiko shared.
The actress-politician also shared that they had more time to do “chikahan” as it was drizzling when they shot the movie beside the river. She also commended their director. “Napaka-cool ni Direk. Sobrang chill lang siya sa set. Kahit inuulan na kami, nandu’n lang siya sa isang tabi, nagkukuwentuhan kami. Masarap siyang katrabaho. I hope I get to work with him again,” the seasoned actress shared.
In 2018, Aiko Melendez won the Best Supporting Actress award in MMFF for the movie Rainbow Sunset, when asked if this scenario will happen again this year, she said that she is not sure about this because she does not think someone was hailed Best Actress or Best Supporting Actress from a horror movie. “Ayokong mag-expect! Ha-hahaha! Natatawa ako!” she quipped.
