BDO To Reimburse Clients Who Fell Victim To Recent Fraud Attack

BDO To Reimburse Clients Affected By Recent Fraud Attack

BDO TO REIMBURSE CLIENTS – Over the past weekend, hundreds of BDO clients went on social media to share that they were victims of fraud.

Hundreds said they had funds withdrawn from their accounts without their knowledge. According to the initial investigation, the funds were transferred to Unionbank accounts.

Afterward, the funds were used to buy crypto. As such, the money now floats in decentralized networks making it difficult to trace. Both Unionbank and BDO are now investigating the issue.

Meanwhile, BDO said they are going to shoulder the losses of their clients who were affected. In an article from ABS-CBN, BDO said:

BDO Unibank has been processing the reimbursement of close to 700 clients affected by the recent online fraudulent transactions

Furthermore, BDO said that affected clients need to go to the branch of the account and submit documents to be eligible for a refund. However, BDO declined to disclose the total amount that was stolen in the heist.

Now, The Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas said they had also formed a task force to find the origins of the crime. As per the article, BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno said they would find the criminals and punish them “to the full extent allowed by law”.
