Real Estate CEO Fires 900 Employees Over Zoom Call All At Once
CEO FIRES 900 EMPLOYEES – The head of a large real estate company terminated 900 employees at the same time over a zoom meeting.
As the holiday approaches, employees of a real estate company Better.com were told to join a zoom meeting. Unbeknownst to them, this wasn’t your typical pre-holiday speech thanking employees for their service.
Instead of a bonus for their work, CEO Vishal Garg delivered a simple 3-minute speech informing the employees that they were all “terminated effective immediately”. Now, videos of the zoom call went viral across social media.
According to an article from CBS, this was already the 2nd time Garg had to lay off this many workers. Furthermore, he said that it was a “challenging decision”.
But, why did he decide to lay off so many employees only a few weeks before Christmas? As per the article, his company received $750 million in funding days before he terminated 900 employees.
However, Better has refused to react further to the viral incident. Still, the employees said that the terminations came out of nowhere.
But, Garg did say that the business conditions weren’t as favorable as last year. As COVID-19 hit the world, several businesses and companies went under.
Garg added that he wished the company thrived as “enthusiastically as we were”. However, he emphasized that this wasn’t the case.
As such, days before Christmas, Garg told his terminated employees that he wished them “the best of luck” in finding a new career path.
