Comelec Reacts To Duterte “Cocaine” Statement, Says Substance Abuse Not Grounds For Disqualification

DUTERTE COCAINE STATEMENT – The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) says substance abuse isn’t grounds for disqualification in the 2022 elections.

Several revelations have come forth in the recent weeks as the Philippines creeps closer to election day. However, despite the numerous “substitutions”, what shocked the public most was Duterte’s recent statements.

Substance Abuse Not Grounds For Disqualification Says Comelec

So, in classic Duterte fashion, he said both BBM and VP Leni Robredo are pro-communists. Still, that was merely the tip of the iceberg.

Yesterday, the public went berserk over Duterte’s statement regarding a presidential candidate allegedly using cocaine. Although no names were dropped, Duterte said the candidate came from a wealthy family.

Additionally, he stressed that this candidate has done nothing for the Philippines and only rides the waves of his father’s name. Yet, interestingly enough, substance abuse won’t be an issue when it comes to the election, says Comelec spox James Jimenez.

According to him, “substance abuse is not among the disqualifications provided for by law”. Obviously, this riled up netizens to create a series of memes and opinions regarding the matter.

Meanwhile, detained Senator Leila de Lima reacted to Duterte’s “blind item” saying that it was quite obvious who he was talking about. She added that he should’ve jailed that individual instead of her.
