Man Nabbed for Faking Cenomars So Married Clients Can Marry Anew

Man Making Fake Cenomars for Married Clients who Want to Marry Again

Authorities arrested a man making fake cenomars or certificates or no marriage record to married clients so they can allegedly marry again.

With the joint operation between the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Special Task Force and the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA), they apprehended a man selling counterfeit cenomars to verify that the client is single. Individuals who use phony Cenomar are said to be those who seek to marry foreigners.

The culprit was identified as Darwin Rotap, who was apprehended by NBI and ARTA agents, according to the report. Rotap stated he needed to sell forged documents to buy meals inside the NBI van.

After handing over the counterfeit cenomar to a poseur buyer, Rotap was confronted. The phony document and marked money were seized by authorities.

His arrest was the result of an ARTA tip that the defendant was selling bogus cenomar to people who wanted to lie about their weddings. Some complainants claim that the fixers are offering them P3,500 to modify their civil status from married to single.

According to Jeremiah Belgica, ARTA’s director-general, clients’ partners will be proclaimed deceased or the certificate will state that you have never been married. Fake cenomars can also be used in human trafficking and mail order brides marrying foreigners, according to NBI-STF executive officer Sixto Espinesin Jr.

The discovered Cenomar was brought to Rotap by officials from the Philippine Statistics Authority, who confirmed that the document was a forgery. Rotap stated that the Cenomar taken from him was a forgery and that he was fabricating it in order to eat.
