Roque Finds “Resolve” To Run As Senator After Rally Against Him In NY

Roque “Finds Resolve” For Senatorial Run After Criticts Rally Against His ILC Nomination

ROQUE FINDS RESOLVE – Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque had always expressed that a Senatorial run would be a possibility.

Initially, Roque declined offers to run for Senator at the 2022 Philippine elections. However, if the spokesperson wished to do so, a slot was still available for him at the People’s Reform Party (PRP). But, with the deadline for a candidate substitution only until November 15, Roque needs to make a decision.

Meanwhile, Roque is still in New York to push for his nomination into the International Law Commission (ILC). And, much like in the Philippines, Roque encountered bumps on his way into the ILC.

At Aretsky’s Patroon restaurant, Roque attended a private reception. However, several Filipino-American protesters gathered and expressed their opposition to Roque’s nomination.

Because of this, Roque said that he has found the “Resolve” to run for a Senatorial spot in Halalan 2022. During an interview with ABS-CBN, Roque stated:

When I found out what the extremist groups did, I found a resolve to actually run. Why? Because I don’t want to see their allies elected to office

Additionally, Roque said that his critics failed to disrupt his private reception in the restaurant. “They were not able to enter the venue of the cocktail. They were able to enter the first floor of the restaurant but the venue of the cocktail was on the third floor”, he said.

Furthermore, Roque said the embassies have looked through the campaigns against him and that they viewed them as spam. So, to prevent “bullying,” Roque said he’d run for Senator to prove there are people who support him.
