Raissa Robles Claims The Fundraising of the DDS for President Duterte is Illegal

Journalist Raissa Robles slammed the fundraising of the Duterte Die-Hard Supporters (DDS) allegedly for the gift of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Robles recently came out against alleged fundraising for President Duterte by the so-called ‘DDS.’ The donation campaign began in order for individuals to express their thanks to the President as his term draws to a close.

Netizens have so far contributed $ 53,754.76 (or 2,717,760 PHP) to the fundraising campaign. With the help of the GavaGives platform, Krizette Laureta Chu, a notable supporter of the President, started the fundraiser.

However, according to Robles, netizens are violating the “Conduct of Public Officials” by doing so. Government officials are prohibited from accepting gifts under the law.

“What Krizette is doing- raising money online to Duterte a “gift” is illegal – Under Code of Conduct of Public Officials – “Public officials and employees shall not solicit or accept, directly or indirectly, any gift… or anything of monetary value from any person…” said Robles.

Chu responded quickly, stating that they would not be giving Duterte a gift before the conclusion of his tenure. Chu stated that they have already sought legal advice on the matter.

“Una, hindi ibibigay ang kung ano mang gift ang mabili namin habang Presidente pa sya. I’ve already checked with lawyers. Yung lawyers na hindi yung utal utal magsalita na lutang na shungangers. Pangalawa, babayaran namin ang gift sa tindahan para makatulong sa ekonomiya ng Pilipinas. Hindi namin i sho-shoplift.” answer by well -known blogger.

Malacanang has yet to respond to questions about the President’s supporters’ fundraising efforts. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has punished Presidential aspirant and Vice President Leni Robredo’s fundraising.

According to the previous report, the fundraising was started by the “Kakampink,” or Leni Robredo’s supporters. According to the fundraiser, the campaign has raised more dollars.
