Isko More Reacts to Cusi Convincing President Duterte for Senate Run
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno expresses reactions towards PDP-Laban convincing President Rodrigo Duterte for senate run in 2022 election.
Presidential contender Isko said he supports Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi’s choice to persuade President Rodrigo Duterte to run for senator next year. He did say, though, that the Philippine election laws should be reviewed.

Cusi has been pressing Duterte to “bring his style of leadership in the Senate” since the President opted not to compete for vice president in the 2022 national elections, according to a prior report. Senators Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa and Christopher “Bong” Go, who were vying for president and vice president, respectively, will have Duterte as their campaign manager, according to Cusi.
Meanwhile, when asked for his reaction to the so-called Cusi faction’s move within the ruling party PDP-Laban, Isko told reporters that he wished them “goodluck.” He went on to say that they are free to use whatever is contained in our laws, and that if there is a level of circumvention, it is up to them.
“Malalaki na sila, matatanda na sila, alam na nila ang tama at mali,” he said.
Meanwhile, Manila Mayor Aquino noted that “in the future administration,” the government “should do something” about a number of election regulations, including the policy on substituting candidates. Only those with physical inability and those who have died, he claims, can be substituted.
