There was an issue that happened between Darren Espanto and Erik Santos before
The Voice Kids graduate Darren Espanto revealed that there was a “past issue” between him and Prince of Pop Erik Santos.
Initially, Darren and Erik were not friends even though they have shared the stage together and performed in the same show. It was because of the wall between them that they did not realize at first that a simple conversation will break that.
Just recently, Erik Santos celebrated his birthday on ABS-CBN’s morning talk show Magandang Buhay. One of the celebrities who greeted and spoke about him was Darren Espanto who revealed that he was not so friendly towards the older singer before.
The younger singer said that as a person, he is shy and an introvert. However, he is more friendly to Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo compared to their fellow ASAP Natin Stars because they already worked together in The Voice Kids.
Darren added that because of this, people would perceive that he is a snob or “suplado”. He did not know that Erik felt this way towards him before. However, Darren said that he was shy and intimidated as he admires Erik. “So imagine n’yo po ang kaba ko na nandiyan ang iniidolo n’yo. So akala ko talaga suplado siya so hindi ako talaga nagha-hi sa kanya masyado kahit sa ‘ASAP,’” he said.
The younger singer did not know that the Prince of Pop also had that kind of thoughts about him and then a confrontation happened.
“Yun nga sinabi niya sa akin sa ABS-CBN Ball ‘Bakit ka ganu’n sa akin? Alam mo mabait naman ako.’ ‘Yun po talaga. So talagang after that I was like, okay. Like we had the same thoughts about each other na parehas kaming intimidate or parang suplado but after that okay naman po, nag-uusap na po kami at mas naging okay na kami sa ‘ASAP’ when we would have prods together and stuff like that,” Darren Espanto revealed. Erik Santos recalled at that time he was a bit tipsy and so he was able to bring up that issue.
