Residents Caught Clumping, Swimming Together As they Flock Manila Bay

RESIDENTS FLOCK MANILA BAY – Hundreds of residents flocked Manila Bay yesterday causing health concerns.

According to a report from Philstar, over 100 people were spotted swimming together and disregarding COVID-19 protocols. Still, the city of Pasay, where the Manila Bay near the Senate Building is located, is under Alert Level 4 until October 15.

Much like previous years, minors were seen playing in the water in the harbor on Sunday around noon to beat the heat. However, police said the swimmers weren’t easily noticed due to a quarantine facility blocking the cops’ line of sight.

The sudden increase of people gathering near the Bay comes after Department of Environment and Natural Resources chief Roy Cematu said that swimming and recreational activities would be opened again.

But, as people started to pile up near Manila Bay, police had no choice but to issue tickets to residents caught in the area. As per the report, more than 50 people were ticketed for violating COVID-19 protocols.

Due to this, more police were stationed in the area. Furthermore, Pasay City Police Chief Colonel Cesar Paday-os, said he already ordered more troops to monitor the Bay.

The IATF too said that under the new Alert Level 4, “social occasions such as but not restricted to the following are not allowed:

  • Get togethers at homes with any individual exterior of one’s quick family
