2 Chinese Nationals, 2 Pinoy Arrested for Counterfeit Cigarettes worth P32M
Police authorities arrested two (2) Chinese Nationals, two (2) Pinoy over counterfeit cigarettes worth P32 million in Balagtas town in Bulacan.
During the buy-bust operation in the city of Balagtas, four people, including two Chinese citizens, were arrested after being caught with smuggled cigarettes for about 32,305,000 pesos. The two arrested Chinese nationals were identified as Zeng Qiangjian, 42, alias Ken, from Brgy. San Juan, Balagtas; Lin Shanxiong, 48 aka Anthony Lim from Maybunga, Pasig City.

Meanwhile, two Filipino assistants have been identified as John Bejay, 25, of a warehouse in Brgy. Tabon, Pulilan and Rodolfo Brosas, 45, conductors of Brgy. Malis, Guiguinto. According to PMGen Albert Ferro, director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the operation was supported by the Balagtas police during the bypass.
Authorities discovered a large number of counterfeit cigarettes, including two Two Moon cigarettes and imported D&B cigarettes. He said that these two cigarettes were all imported since the two moons were made in Thailand.
He said they would contact customs to investigate and find out the possible additional case of the suspects. He added that it is possible that some cigarettes were manufactured in our country with the aim of being sold here and abroad.
According to driver Brosas, his operation in the area has only been three months. He also didn’t know what they were selling and the truck driver simply dropped the smuggled cigarettes.
Their interaction with their two Chinese National bosses are only throught sign language because they are not used in speaking English. The suspects of smuggled counterfeit cigarettes are facing charges.
The operation recovered 27 boxes of Marlboro light, 6 boxes of Marlboro red, 41 boxes of Marvel red, 26 boxes of Jackpot, 41 boxes of Union, 15 boxes of Cambo, 167 boxes of fortune blue, 49 boxes of Mighty green, 637 boxes of Two Moon, 95 boxes of Fortune green and 244 boxes of D&B cigarettes with an estimated value of P32,305,000.
