Tanod, 4 Others Nabbed for Illegal Gambling in Nueva Vizcaya

A barangay tanod (watchman) and four (4) other players were arrested for illegal gambling after allegedly being reported by a concerned resident.

In Purok 2, Barangay Baan, Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya, five persons were found playing illicit gambling, including a barangay tanod. According to the report, a worried person called from the phone and reported that the suspects were playing drop ball in the neighborhood.

The operators initiated an anti-illegal gambling operation right away. They apprehended five offenders in the act of gambling when they arrived at the specified location.

The accused are Jonathan Bautista, 38, a barangay tanod, and Ronaldo Danggol, both of Barangay Baan; Garry Sabino and Oliver Danghale, both of Kayapa; and Alexon Sanu-an, of Bambang of the same province, according to Aritao Police Station (APS) office P/Col. Ranser Evasco.

119 red cards, cardholders, 4 four boxes of new cards, 3 drop balls, 115 chips, 5 drop ball cards, and P698.00 in bet money were seized from the suspects. The suspects were arrested and charged with violating the Anti-Illegal Gambling Act.

Meanwhile, authorities stormed an unlawful internet cockfight in Caloocan City, arresting seven people. They received a call from a concerned resident who claimed that cockfighting was taking place at the DM Compound.

They are claimed to be rowdy and shout loudly when the hens clash, according to the complaint. The police purportedly apprehended the criminals, and upon further investigation, it was discovered that the stated online sabong website was unlawful because it was not registered with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor).
