Online Lascivious Den Raided in QC Resulting in the Arrest of 16 Individuals

Optical Media Board (OMB) personnel raided an alleged online lascivious den in Quezon City and arrested the 16 suspects.

According to Atty. Cyrus Valenzuela, chief legal officer of the Optical Media Board, the initial tip they received was that a piracy-related unlawful business process outsourcing (BPO) was functioning on the second floor of a building along Tandang Sora Avenue in Quezon City. However, when OMB stormed the office, they discovered a cybers*x den.

They learned that this company offers indecent images, massage services, and other services via messaging applications and online dating apps. They will ask for the customer’s ATM and credit card information once they have persuaded them, and then they will rob them.

“Once nagbook ang client nakukuha nila lahat ng credit card information tapos kapag may nagreklamo bakit ako nakaltasan, wala pa naman ako naa-avail, may naka-ready sila na sagot, mga set answers na ‘Sir baka may problema sa bank ninyo, baka you need to re-enter iyong details ninyo’,” Valenzuela explained.

“Basically nakita namin na nakuhanan na nila, mayroon pa silang certain words na ginagamit para utuin pa para gamitin ang credit card uli,” Valenzuela added.

According to the OMB, the company has been in existence for at least a year and may have additional locations. The list of consumers that the gang had contacted was also seen on OMB’s computer, and the majority of them are foreigners.

The company lacked a business authorization, and OMB discovered that the name on file with the Department of Trade and Industry was incorrect. The cybersex den’s management declined to speak, citing the fact that some of the late employees claimed they couldn’t find another job and therefore entered it.

The Office of Management and Budget intends to pursue charges against individuals arrested for breaking Republic Act No. 9239, also known as the Optical Media Act of 2003. The Office of Management and Budget would also work with the Philippine National Police Cybercrime Division to help in the investigation and filing of cases of cybercrime offenses.

Those apprehended at this office were temporarily detained by OMB and held in their offices until they were turned over to the police tomorrow. At least 21 computers utilized in their activity were also seized by the OMB.
