15-year-old Boy Rescued after Taken as Hostage by Man in Caloocan City
Authorities successfully rescued a 15-year-old boy after being involved in a hostage taking prompted in Caloocan City Friday night.
According to the story, a man took a small boy as a hostage on Friday night. Anthony Soriano, a 32-year-old Pandi Bulacan resident, was arrested and detained at the police station.

The incident occurred about 7:00 p.m. Friday night along C3 road in Barangay 14, according to the police report. Authorities received a phone call from a concerned citizen about the hostage situation in the region, according to reports.
They rushed to the location where PMajor Dennis Odtujan, SS4’s substation commander, was negotiating. TMRU/SWAT personnel hastily hid behind a pole near the suspect and victim during the negotiations.
The rescuer tackled and seized the suspect with incredible timing, resulting in the suspect’s capture. Authorities are currently looking into the suspect’s motive for the almost hour-long hostage situation.
Meanwhile, two Marikina City Jail detainees died after allegedly being involved in a gunfight with jail officials after attempting to flee the facility. Maj. Xavier Solda, the spokesman of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), confirmed the death of the two Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).
He claimed it began when the two inmates were able to take a gun from a jail officer. A hostage-taking incident occurred as a result of the incident. However, the two detainees were later slain in a shootout.
