Free Rides For Vaccinated Continues As Manila Shifts To MECQ
FREE RIDES FOR VACCINATED – If you’re inoculated against COVID-19, then you’re eligible to get free rides in the MRT, LRT-2, and the PNR.
Previously, Metro Manila was placed under an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) as the number of COVID-19 cases continued to spike. But, following a two-week period, the government has reverted it to a modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
Initially, the free rides program was launched when Metro Manila was under the ECQ. Luckily, they have extended it amid the lessened quarantine restrictions.
Meanwhile, according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the free rides are for Authorized Person Outside Residence or AOPR that holds a vaccination card. Additionally, only AOPR are allowed to ride pubic transport amid the new MECQ after August 31.
According to MRT, LRT-2 and PNR management, only the vaccination card needs to be shown to the security guard or station staff. You can have the first twelve or the second twelve. APOR proof such as Certificate of Employment, PRC ID or company ID must also be presented.
On the MRT, free rides are available from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. For the LRT-2, the free trips are available every 5 a.m. until 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
According to the DOTR, more than 1 million people took use of the MRT, LRT-2, and PNR’s free riding program during ECQ. This initiative will run till the end of August.
