Here Is A Brief History Of Fernando Amorsolo & His Most Famous Works
FERNANDO AMORSOLO – Art is important in many cultures, especially the Philippines throughout history.
Among the many revered artists, the Philippines had an individual named Fernando Amorsolo. He was a craftsman, a portraitist, and a painter of rural landscapes.
Amorsolo was born in Paco, Manila on May 30, 1892. Even at an extremely young age, well-celebrated artists during his time such as Fabian de la Rosa, his mother’s first cousin apprenticed Amorsolo when he was merely 13 years old.

In 1909, the artist enrolled at the Liceo de Manila. Afterward, he studied at the University of the Philippines and took up fine arts. He graduated in 1914.
Following his graduation, he worked as a commercial artist and a part-time instructor at the university. Afterward, he studied at the Escuela de San Fernando in Madrid.
For seven months, Amorsolo sketched for Museums and was painting on the streets where he would experiment with his use of light and colors.
That winter, the Filipino artist set his sights for New York, there he saw postwar impressionists and cubists that held a major influence on his works. Then, he came back to Manila and set up his own studio.
