Here Are The Details Regarding The Perseid Meteor Shower In The Philippines This August 12, 2021
PERSEID METEOR SHOWER – A spectacle of light will illuminate the Philippines’ night sky on August 12, 2021.
The meteor shower began on August 10, however, it is said to peak on August 12. As such, a large portion of the world could watch hundreds of falling stars when viewing conditions are good.
Furthermore, those who wish to go view the event could expect as many as 30 to 100 meteors passing through the sky every hour. Still, the most optimal viewing point are areas where the sky has absolute darkness.
Luckily, Perseids, unlike more minor showers, are more accessible even for people who live in cities with high light pollution. According to the International Dark-Sky Association (TDA), “The brightest of the Perseids are sufficiently bright that they would be seen regardless of how much light pollution was in a place”.
So, what could be the best place to view these shooting stars from? Well, for those in Asia, the Perseids will peak during the night of Thursday, August 12, and through Friday, August 13.
Moreover, the best viewing hours for the meteors will be from the late hours of August 12 up to the pre-dawn hours of Friday, August 13, 2021. As such, you could start looking up the stars at about midnight.
The Perseid is a meteor shower that occurs every year between July 17 and August 26 as a result of Earth’s orbital path crashing into a swarm of debris left in the inner Solar System by Comet Swift-Tuttle. It was last discovered in the Solar System in 1992.
