Marikina River 2nd Alarm Raised As Water Level Continues To Rise

2ND ALARM FOR MARIKINA RIVER – Earlier, authorities raised the alert level for Marikina River after water rose to 16 meters.

As of 8:00 A.M. on Saturday, the Marikina Public Information Office announced that evacuation would be ongoing. Currently, authorities have already urged residents to evacuate, especially in flood-prone areas.

2nd Alarm Raised For Marikina River As Water Reaches 16 Meters

Initially, the first alarm was raised around midnight as water levels got past 15 meters. Since then, officials had already began evacuating residents. With this, Marikina City Rescue 161 posted on their social media page:

Kasalukuyang po tayong naglilikas dahil may mga kakabayan tayo nag preemptive evacuation dahil sa tuloy tuloy na buhos ng ulan at patuloy na pagtaas ng level ng tubig sa ilog ng marikina..

(We are currently evacuating our residents because we have citizens that are doing preemptive evacuations due to the continued rain and rising water levels in Marikina River)

If the water level in Marikina River would surpass 18 meters, authorities would raise the third alarm. Meanwhile, rain continues to pour down on Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon due to Typhoon Fabian.
