Hero Driver Rescues 25 Children As Bus Catches Fire Under Tunnel
HERO DRIVER RESCUES 25 CHILDREN – A simple bus driver became a hero after saving the lives of 25 kids trapped inside a burning bus.
Initially, the kids were on the way to their summer camp. But, when they entered a tunnel about 50 miles north of Milan, the bus caught fire. “It could have been a massacre“, authorities said.
Thankfully, the driver was coolheaded and managed to save all of the children with minor injuries. According to reports from the BBC, only seven children were taken to the hospital due to smoke inhalation.
Because of his heroics, the bus driver was praised by Regional Council president, Alessandro Fermi. As per the reports, he said:
By saving 25 boys from the Lipomo oratory, he became the protagonist of a heroic act. I will have the pleasure of having him as a guest in one of the next meetings of the Regional Council to personally testify to him the gratitude of the Lombard institution and give him due recognition
Firefighters quickly responded to the incident and made quick work of the flames. Luckily, everyone aboard the bus was taken to safety before the flames engulfed the vehicle.

Currently, authorities are still investigating what caused the flame. Moreover, officials cited how the driver quickly reacted upon noticing something wrong while he was driving. Before the bus was on fire, he had moved fast with “excellent professionalism”, according to officials.
