9 Young Trafficking Victims of Online Exploitation Rescued in Caloocan

Police authorities rescued nine (9) young females who were allegedly victims of trafficking in an online exploitation in Caloocan City.

In Caloocan City, officers from the Northern Police District (NPD) rescued nine young women in an entrapment and rescue operation against internet exploitation and human trafficking. Eight of them were minors, according to the study.

The operation was sparked by information obtained by P/Lt. Melito Pabon about alleged widespread online sexual exploitation of kids in North Caloocan, according to District Special Operation Unit (DSOU) chief P/Col. Jay Dimaandal.

Personnel from the DSOU, NPD Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) commanded by P/Maj. Vicky Tamayo, Sub-Station 9 commander P/Maj. Harold Melgar, Department of Justice-Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (DOJ-IACAT), and City Social Welfare and Development joint forces validated the report.

Around 6 p.m., authorities conducted a rescue operation on Road 14, Congress Village Taas, Brgy. 173. PLT Pabon’s team was able to save eight young women, ranging in age from 12 to 17, as well as an 18-year-old girl, who were reportedly utilized for online sexual exploitation.

John Mico Atendido, 21, and Chris Jayson Magbanua, 18, both residents of Brgy. 176 Bagong Silang, were also arrested as alleged pimps. According to the post, a 17-year-old teen was also arrested in addition to them.

The arrested suspects will be presented in inquest proceedings at the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office for the case of violation of R.A. 9208 as amended by R.A. 10364, also known as the Expanded Anti-Trafficking of Persons Act of 2012, according to NPD Director P/BGen. Jose Santiago Hidalgo Jr.
