They were holding the warrant of arrest issued by Hon. Trese D. Wenceslo, Presiding Judge, RTC Branch 28, Cabanatuan when they detained the suspect, according to the report of the MPD-Special Mayor’s Reaction Team (SMaRT) commanded by P/Lt.Col. Rosalino Ibay Jr.

Ibay’s office had already obtained information regarding the suspect’s hiding place, prompting an emergency manhunt that culminated in the suspect’s arrest. It was discovered that the suspect made a “vlog” in which he used derogatory language and swore at Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.

A concerned person notified to Ibay’s office that the suspect had an Alias Warrant of Arrest and was hiding in Baguio City, outraged by the slander committed by the suspect.

SMaRT, led by Lt.Col. Ibay and P/Maj. Edward Samonte, immediately launched an operation in collaboration with MPD-DID, DSOU, and Baguio Police Station-3, where one of the officers pretended to phone the suspect and tell him he had won a box of rice.

As a result, the suspect was overjoyed and met with the caller, who, unbeknownst to him, was one of the police officers who led to his arrest. The suspect is currently being held in SMaRT, where he can post his P10,000 bond for the libel case he is facing.
