Graduating Student Electrocuted While Fishing Resulted to His Death in Cotabato

GRADUATING STUDENT ELECTROCUTED – A young lad was killed due to electrocution while he was allegedly fishing in M’lang Cotabato.

In M’lang Cotabato, a graduate student died after being electrocuted while fishing. John Jay Bangcaya, 24, of Barangay Upper Glad 2, Midsayap Cotabato, was identified as the victim.

He would have graduated from the University of Southern Mindanao’s Agriculture program. The victim’s mother told Bombo Radyo that her son just went to his aunt in Barangay Buayan M’lang Cotabato to ask for rice to go home.

His cousins, on the other hand, allegedly invited him to go fishing, based on the article. They were attempting to catch more fish in the fishpond by using the live wire of the Cotabato Electric Cooperative (Cotelco).

According to the report, the group returned and apparently ate about midday, but the victim allegedly returned and re-plugged the electric wire. He was shocked after reconnecting the cable because his entire body was soaked.

The young man was sent to the nearest hospital after the event. The young victim, unfortunately, did not survive from the electric shock.
