Crazy Rich Asians Sequel: Henry Golding Reveals Reason For Delay?

Is this really the reason why the filming of the Crazy Rich Asians sequel was delayed?

Crazy Rich Asians male lead actor Henry Golding appeared to have revealed the reason why the shooting for the sequel has not yet started.

The said movie that was released in 2018 was based on the best-selling novel of Kevin Kwan. After the release, anticipation for the sequel already hyped up.

However, after more than two years, the sequel has not materialized yet. Based on the article in Yahoo News, Henry Golding quipped about why the filming has not started yet.

He said that director Jon M. Chu is the one who got be locked down. “He’s been a busy, busy boy,”  the actor said about the Crazy Rich Asians director. “That guy is making waves. He has Oprah shouting out his movie,” Henry Golding added during the interview with Insider.

The Jon M. Chu has multiple film projects amid the pandemic and the latest one is In The Heights that was released on HBO Max and theaters in the U.S. just recently.

On the other hand, based on the report, in 2019, Adele Lim the co-writer for the script of Crazy Rich Asians left the production. It was said that it is because of the pay dispute.

She was offered $100,000-plus to write the sequels of the movie while her co-writer Peter Chiarelli was offered $800,000 to $1 million.

Director Chu showed support for Adele Lim. In 2020, Henry Golding said in an interview that the director has confirmed that the script for the sequel was still unfinished.
