In November 2020, the victim returned the money. However, because the suspect failed to hand over the document to the victim, the foreigner was unable to return to his homeland, despite the fact that his mother had died.

The victim enlisted the assistance of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), which set up an entrapment operation in which the suspect was paid P10,000 in marked money. The suspect said that he did not flee the scene because he was prepared to repair the document.
