During the initial investigation, Delorino’s daughter allegedly awoke at 5:45 a.m. yesterday, Sunday, and spotted the victim laying bloodied at the kitchen door of their three-story residence. The footage from CCTV cameras near the crime scene is still being examined by police in order to identify the perpetrators.

Delorino is the sixth president of the Institution of Eastern Philippines, a Catarman-based statement university. From 2016 until 2019, he is believed to have served as the president of the aforementioned university.

The lone suspect in the assassination of a former university president was apprehended just after 4 p.m. on Sunday (June 13), less than 24 hours after the murder. Alvin Plandez, 22, acknowledged to murdering Delorino, but said he was compelled to do it by a New People’s Army (NPA) leader.

Northern Samar Provincial Police Director Colonel Arnel Apud said the suspect had made many statements that are currently being investigated. Plandez informed authorities that an NPA commander threatened him that if he didn’t kill Delorino, members of his family would be killed.
