Lead actor for Wonka movie finally announced
Warner Bros. is set to make the prequel film featuring the story of the world’s most famous chocolatier in the Wonka movie that is a musical based on the early life of Willy Wonka.
It is based on Roald Dahl’s popular children’s book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” which is about a boy named Charlie Bucket who had the chance to get a golden ticket that gave him the access to explore the heavily guarded chocolate factory of the popular chocolatier.
It was first adapted into a movie in 1971 titled “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” that featured Gene Wilder. In the 2005reboot “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” Johnny Depp played the iconic character and it was directed by Tim Burton.
The reboot gave a glimpse of the childhood of Wonka including the short story about his dentist father who hates candies.
Based on the article in Variety, Warner Bros. has not divulged yet the details of Wonka movie but the camp of Timothée Chalamet has already confirmed that he will be playing the lead role.
On the other hand, since the upcoming movie is a prequel, it is expected that Charlie and his family will not make an appearance.
Wonka movie will be directed by Paul King who was known for Paddington while David Heyman is the producer who is also known as the producer behind the Harry Potter franchise. Simon Rich wrote the script for the prequel film and it is expected that the filming will start in September.
The production is targeting to release the movie on March 17, 2023.
