Raid in an Illegal Cockfight in Malabon Arrested 9 “Sabungero”
Police officers arrested nine (9) “sabungero” during the raid in an illegal cockfight or “tupada” held in in Malabon City.
Nine owners of battle cocks were apprehended by police on an illegal cockfighting arena during “Oplan Galugad.” Nestor Cator, 62, Roger Garcia, 47, Edison Ybaez, 33, Joel Toacao, 54, Ronilo Peronilo, 35, Arman Enmil, 32, Rico Barles Jr., 39, Wilfred Duro, 39, and Ricky Rivadulla, 34 were arrested by Malabon Police Chief Col. Joel Villanueva.

According to PSSg Michael Oben’s investigation, Malabon Police Sub Station 3 staff, led by P/Major Carlos Cosme, were conducting “Oplan Galugad” along Yanga St. in Brgy. Maysilo about 11:00 a.m. The police discovered a group of people engaging in illegal cockfighting, also known as “tupada,” in the city.
Several people who were present at the illegal event were arrested right away. Two dead fighting chickens and P4,100 in bet money were confiscated by police in the town.
The detainees were taken to the police station. The “sabungeros” will be charged with breaching PD 1602 (Illegal Cockfighting, locally known as “Tupada”), as amended by R.A. 9287.
