Annoying Kids Force Armed School Bus Hijacker To Let Them Go
SCHOOL BUS HIJACKER – A school bus full of children managed to escape an armed hijacker due to being obnoxious.
Naturally, kids can be a handful. More often than not, they’d be full of energy and could sometimes be annoying, especially for adults in high stress situations. Luckily, this came in handy when a hijacker attempted to take over their school bus.
According to reports, the incident took place in South Carolina. Apparently, an armed military trainee known as Jovan Collazo got on the bus at an interstate highway. Afterward, he forced the driver to change routes to a nearby town.
Furthermore, CCTV footage from the bus shows Collazo with “ARMY” printed on his shirt. Upon entering, he told the children to move to the front saying he didn’t want to hurt them. But, the children kept shouting at the bus drive to “close the door, drive, drive!”.
At this point, the children started pestering the hijacker with questions like “Are you going to hurt us?, Are you a soldier?, Are you a bus driver?”. This caused the hijacker to get frustrated, said police.
Based on a report from CBS News, Collazo let the children and the driver go after just 6 minutes of being on the bus with them. Then, he continued to drive a couple of miles before he left the bus and attempted an escape.
Still, police noted that some of the children were left traumatized in that short span. As per the report, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said:
“Six complete minutes that the bad guy was on the bus with a gun, that must’ve traumatized the children”
Luckily, the police quickly found the hijacker. Currently, Collazo is arrested and charged with 19 counts of kidnaping, armed robbery, and several other felonies.
